ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hello! My name is Clara Weismantel, and I'm an artist with a BFA in Animation with honors and a concentration in 3D Character Animation. I’m originally from Chicago, IL, but now live in South Carolina. I've always wanted to be an artist but never knew exactly what kind—I just wanted to do it all! I’ve always loved animated movies, and I still remember the first animated movie I ever saw, Monster House, when I was 5 years old. I especially remember not being able to sleep for days after. From Back to the Future to The Sound of Music, I grew up watching my mom and dad's favorite films. It wasn’t until I took a class in my freshman year of high school that focused on the Principles of Animation and taught the basics, from cel animation to claymation, that I knew I wanted to pursue filmmaking. During my junior year, I took a class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 3D Animation, where I got my first taste of 3D animation using Autodesk Maya. After that, I was completely invested in working in animation. I dove headfirst into using Maya software in my senior year and made a couple of animated shorts. By that time, I had already decided that I was going to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design to study 3D Character Animation. In my final quarter at SCAD, I was tasked with helping promote our capstone film, and that’s when I discovered my love for movie marketing. Now, I’m working as a Marketing Coordinator at one of the highest-rated resorts on Hilton Head Island, and I can’t believe how far I’ve come. But I know there’s still more to do, and I’m excited for the journey ahead!
