ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hello! My name is Clara Weismantel, I'm a 3D Animator with a BFA in Animation and a concentration in 3D Character Animation! I'm originally from Chicago, IL but I've recently moved to the Hilton Head area. I always wanted to be an artist but never knew what kind. When growing up I remember really wanting to be a Lego designer after watching the Lego Movie because I loved building things. While I did not grow up watching Spongebob and The Fairly Odd Parents like many of my peers, classic films became a reference for my passion for movies. From Back to The Future to The Sound of Music, I grew up watching my mom and dad's favorite films. It wasn't till I took a class freshman year of High School that focused on The Principles of Animation and learning the basics, from cel animation to claymation, that I knew I wanted to pursue animation. During junior year I took a class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 3D Animation, where I got my first taste of 3D Animation using Autodesk's Maya. After that, I was completely invested in becoming a 3D Animator. I dove headfirst into using Maya software in my senior year and I made a couple of animated shorts. By that time I had already decided that I was going to go to the Savannah College of Art and Design to study 3D Character Animation. Some days I can’t believe how far I've already gotten, but I know I've still got a long way to go so much to learn and I'm excited for the journey ahead!
